Real Futures Supporting the Shark Bay Fishing Fiesta

By 25 October, 2023No Comments

26 October 2023 – Real Futures was founded in 2011 and is an Australian Indigenous business partnered with Angus Knight Group.

The Shark Bay Fishing Fiesta provides an inclusive environment for the entire local community to come together to enjoy events and activities. Most of the events are free and the handful that aren’t are heavily subsidized to make them accessible to all socio-economic backgrounds.

This year Real Futures supported the Shark Bay Fishing Fiesta with an AUD$5000 donation. This went towards the visual artists, crafters, and musicians from Perth, Geraldton, and Gascoyne who hold workshops and performances.

This includes engaging musicians from the Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) and a watercolor artist from Art on the Move.

The fiesta was fortunate to have visiting artist from Fremantle Arts Centre, Jesicca King. Jessica is a Western Australian artist trained in both design and teaching, who works as an illustrator, digital artist, muralist, and visual art teacher.

She was assisted by local artist Sofie Seyah whose stunning artwork all the locals are familiar with.

Janessa and Sofi led two watercolor workshops, an afternoon one for children and an evening adult one. All attendees were impressed with the workshops. These were a great success with both being sold out!

Real Futures also hosted a stall at the Fishing Fiesta Markets, where we asked for expressions of interest in courses and tickets and were happy to receive suggestions from locals on the training they would like to see in Denham.

The team also did some baking and raised AUD$390 towards a Youth Program here in Denham.

Real Futures wants to appreciate the Shark Bay Indigenous Community.
